The spreadwing proceeded to eat the male from the head on down, but the male, even in death, continued to hold onto the female. Would the spreadwing eat the female bluet as a second course? No, with hunger apparently sated, the spreadwing let go and the female bluet got away with a bit of the male's abdomen still attached.
